CONSCIOUSLY WELCOME THE DAY
First thing in the morning, you predetermine your day to determine how your day will be.
Emerging from the subconscious realm of your dream state, your mind starts to become active and the body, well-rested, starts to wake up, energised. At this gateway to a new day, be conscious of its significance; who and what you are in this moment will influence the day ahead.
Instead of slipping into your habitual, unthinking morning pattern, mark this auspicious moment with the breath. My recommendation is to sit quietly on your bed so you can focus on your breath, your prayer or intention for this new day. Let this prayer be followed by the heart yearning, and feelings. Feelings enable you to experience it and this is called ‘the answer of the prayer’.

When the heart is open and sincere, your prayer is already answered. Your life changes to one of joy, freedom, peace, abundance and passion. With these elevated emotions, you can see, or even feel, the day ahead. Whether it be filled with challenge or routine becomes less important than the manner in which you can approach it.
Meeting with people at work or socialising with friends, when done with conscious awareness, can become a joining with them on a deeper level. The mundane becomes miraculous. Every encounter can be a holy encounter, or not. It’s up to you. Holy means whole, joining to share the same purpose of life, in that moment. So make any communication a holy communication.
Working in life quite often is through communication. If you practice well, you are able to predetermine how an event will go, before you see anybody, before you do anything. If you fall away from your morning discipline that ‘today I want to be happy and fulfilled’, well, nobody benefits. If you choose to, you can justify you are the only person right and the whole world is wrong, but you’ll be miserable and people will avoid you. So you do it differently. Stay strong in the present moment, even in a negative environment, with negative people, a negative situation . Use the breath to become more centred.
So, first thing in the morning you predetermine your day. If you fall from grace, start again. Now.
It is not what I want. An argument starts, it is not what I want. Stress rising up, it is not what I want. it is not who I am. Keep reminding yourself and you start again. Because you are conscious, you notice when you’re not at peace, so you breathe, and remember it is not what you want, not who you are.
The breath and the Chi introduce you to a higher power, a higher wisdom. When you can connect and align with it you become empowered. It’s a collaboration with the universe. Because of that, wholeness comes in: Happiness, Peace, Love. You don’t do anything, yet you accomplish everything. This is your whole life in just one day. The first thing in the morning is just the perfect moment to predetermine how you’d like to feel. However you will not know the details, because the mind does not know the details.
A miraculous day is not based on your mind’s expectations. You want the sun to shine on you and then it’s overcast and rainy and you become unhappy again? Life is not based on a whim, it’s predetermined. You don’t wait until the right moment to be open, creative, passionate about life, or happy or unhappy. Nor do you let others dictate it for you.
Use skilful means to return to your calm centre; the breath, tai chi, meditation, chanting. Whatever works for you. Because if you don’t do this, basically you suffer and the unfulfilled day will become your habitual existence. Habitual existence becomes a subconscious pattern and you may feel your life is in a rut.
EMBED YOUR NEW LIFE IN 21 DAYS
To embody the new start to your day, follow these pointers for 21 days, by which time it will have become natural to you.
- First thing in the morning, as you awake, sit up, breathe, align your posture. You become alive!
- Predetermine your day and feel it. Pray from the heart and set your sincere intention.
- Have an energy practice to revitalise your body to become a useful instrument in your life.
- If you start losing the alignment and calm centre, come back to the moment with your breath. Reinforce your intention. ‘This is not who I am. This is not what I am’
- Release any expectation of what should be happening in your day. Stay in the present moment and return to the breath .
- Be flexible in life. Like Bruce Lee said, “Be like water.” Now you can understand how beautiful life is. It flows because of your breath. Calming, silky nostril breath, or empowering sounding breath.
Understand that Life is an energy display. Happiness or unhappiness come and go. Notice the eternal features in your existence, and your eternal essence becomes known to you more and more.
I would like to recommend you do something or have something you’re passionate about. Always have time for love, for joy, for fun. Get 24 hours right, and keep repeating it and your whole life is sorted. All the practice you need to do is within in the 24 hours.
You don’t mind depression, you don’t mind anger. All negative emotions melt in your awake consciousness. The skilful means are available to you to replace them with your light, your love, your peace and happiness.
Please don’t get caught in the world. When you get caught in the world, you don’t feel good at all. You are empowered beyond understanding. You have the whole universe to back you up and support you.
