On a scale of 1-10 how much has your peace of mind been disturbed by the pandemic and subsequent lockdown? Please do not use your intellectual mind to answer this question. Your thinking mind can deceive you, but your body cannot lie. So just spend a moment or two tuning into your body and noticing all the sensations within you. Do you feel at ease or tense, peaceful or fearful, free or frustrated? If you have been pretty upset at times during this world wide crisis, join the club. I suspect you would have to be a fully enlightened spiritual master to be able to stay perfectly calm throughout this unfolding nightmare for virtually every human being on the planet.
At times like these, it is relatively easy to feel like the victim of external circumstances and then to fall into habitual patterns of anxiety, irritation, or depression. But of course, indulging in fearful or angry thoughts does nothing to ease our own situation and nothing at all to relieve the suffering of others.
During challenging times when it is so easy to drown in negative thoughts and feelings that then pull our vibration down to life-destroying levels, we definitely need to practise even more than usual. First, we need to lay the right foundations by doing something every day to ensure that our body stays strong and healthy. I practise Infinite Chi Kung every day because I know how much diligently cultivating radiant chi transforms every cell in my body. These days, I also combine cultivating Chi Abundance with bathing my whole being in Love Energy, because I know that when my body is filled with this energy, it automatically becomes exceptionally healthy and strong.
However, after we have spent some time on building up our own foundations for living a healthy, radiant life even in the midst of great challenges, we need to go a lot deeper. If we are ever to escape from the egoic Matrix that keeps us imprisoned in the collective consciousness, we need to find a way to connect to the deepest spiritual truths.
I recommend you find a spiritual path, or study deep spiritual teachings that will gradually lift you out of all painful illusions into the ultimate truth about life. One of the deepest and most radical forms of spiritual wisdom I have ever come across is A Course in Miracles. In these exceptionally challenging times, I find that the eternal truths in this blue book are incredibly relevant and uplifting.
For example, if you turn to lesson 50 in the ACIM Workbook, you will find this: In this world… your faith is placed in the most trivial and insane symbols; pills, money, ‘protective clothing…’ and other forms of nothingness that you endow with magical powers. But in reality, as this course lesson points out Only the Love of God will protect you in all circumstances. It will lift you out of every trial, and rise you high above all the perceived danger of this world into a climate of perfect peace and safety.
Now please do not misinterpret the teachings of ACIM and tell yourself you do not need to bother with any worldly kind of protection – such as looking both ways before crossing a busy road. Whilst you have a physical body, you would be stupid not to look after it to the very best of your ability. As the ancient saying goes, ‘Trust in God, but do not forget to tie up your camel’. However, if you continue to believe that you are nothing more than a physical being, you will continue to be terribly afraid of all physical threats including viruses, whereas if you begin to absorb a core ACIM message, ‘I am not a body. I am free,’ you will gradually become far less afraid of any kind of threat to your physical existence.
I love ACIM because whatever page I turn to in it, I find a deep spiritual truth or practice that is so relevant in today’s uncertain times. What about turning to lesson 34 in the Workbook for example which is entitled I could see peace instead of this. I have found that remembering to tell myself this whenever my inner peace seems to be threatened by anything in the external world has a rapid and profound impact on my state of mind.

If we insist on telling ourselves that all our personal freedoms have been dramatically taken away from us under ‘lockdown’ and that this situation is ruining our life, we will inevitably look outwards and see all kinds of proof that we are now imprisoned by forces beyond our control.
On the other hand, if we just sit quietly for a few minutes or so as the Course suggests and then gently bring to mind any offending situations or personalities about which we are harbouring unloving thoughts, whilst repeating to ourselves, I could see peace instead of this, we should soon feel a sense of deep relief. We can then get up and go about our day and find that we are noticing all that is still right with our world, rather than all that is wrong with it.
Once we are in a peaceful state of mind, we can simply notice that the sun is still shining, and that this spring, nature is even more spectacularly beautiful than normal and all is well moment to moment, despite the endless stream of terrible news with which the mass media is constantly bombarding us
As well as focusing on cultivating unshakeable inner peace as this challenging time unfolds, you might also like to pause to remember that the more we heal and awake, the more we will be able to assist all our suffering brothers and sisters to transcend their own suffering as we have done.
In the introduction to the final lessons of the Course, we are exhorted: Let us together follow in the way that truth points out to us. And let us be the leaders of our many brothers who are seeking for the way, but find it not.
So this month, please practise The Infinite Arts, and/or your own energetic and spiritual practices with great discipline, dedication and devotion. Keep practising with the core intention of finding the miraculous truth about life that lies hidden in all the clouds of illusion that are swirling around us even more dramatically than usual at this time. Then, simply vow that you will not cease in your endeavours until your full awareness of God’s perfect, unchanging love is restored to you and you can naturally extend this miraculous Love out into the troubled world around you – even in the most challenging of times.
